The Administrative Policy and Procedure Manual (APPM) is the official compilation of the University's administrative policies and procedures. The policies, procedures and other information in the APPM are derived from sources such as decisions of the Board of Governors, operating requirements, procedural studies, review of organizational responsibilities, standard practices and legal requirements. The policies and procedures in this manual are approved for publication by the Executive Officers responsible for the academic, financial, and business affairs of Wayne State University. Revisions are identified by the date appearing in the policy title on a given policy page and/or in the policy title referenced in the left menu of the applicable policy page.
The purpose of the University Policy is to clarify rulemaking procedures from the Office of the President, and the procedure for the development, review and approval of policies initiated at other levels or by other bodies in the University. The decision-making authority upon which this University Policy is based follows existing Statutes and actions of the Board of Governors.
Except where otherwise indicated, the policies described in this Manual apply to all persons employed by the University other than employees covered by a collective bargaining contract.
These policies represent a codification and clarification of policies within the University and establish the basic terms of your employment. We have designed this Manual to inform you of important policies which you will be expected to follow. Please take the time to read this Manual in order to familiarize yourself with its contents. We hope this Manual will better enable you to understand your responsibilities as an employee. If you have any questions about any University policy or about your benefits, please discuss them with your supervisor.
